Trump's Budget Is a Horror Show
If enacted, Donald Trump's proposed budget for 2020 will dramatically slash domestic spending on Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, the Department of Education, and the Environmental Protection Agency. These cuts were utterly predictable when Republicans passed the Trump tax plan with enormous giveaways to corporations and the 1%, estimated to cost $2 trillion over the next decade. They blew a hole in the deficit with tax breaks, but now blame earned benefits for seniors as the trigger.
Trump pledged not to cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid during his campaign, but honesty hasn't exactly been a hallmark of his administration. Of course those programs are perennial targets of the GOP, of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney in particular.
With regard to the Department of Education, Secretary Betsy DeVos recently went viral for defending the elimination of funding for the Special Olympics. The backlash was so bad that Trump threw her under the bus, telling reporters that he had "overridden [his] people" and restored the funding. But Trump still wants to slash the education budget by 12%. Proposed cuts to the EPA total a whopping 31%.
All of this slashing got me thinking about slasher films (Jordan Peele's new horror film "Us" in particular), and about producing a movie trailer parody themed on the Trump budget cuts called "USA." (That's our movie poster parody above!) But I need your help to get the video made. Donate to American Family Voices, my 501c4 organization, to help us produce "USA" to spread the word about Trump's horror show of a budget. We need to raise at least $5k to make it happen. Additional funds will go to extra motion graphics bells and whistles, social media promotion, and general support. Whatever you can give is appreciated.
Thanks for your support,
